Staying in the forefront of a customer’s mind.
Building a community doesn’t mean much if you can’t leverage that community into early sales and word of mouth. This is why maintaining top of mind is important. You have to stay relevant in the minds of your supporters. Use updates, interesting news, inside looks at development, and even giveaways or meta-games to maintain relevance until you hit release. I call this, building the neighborhood.
Even after release, use any early momentum to get more press coverage, streamers and reviews by prominent outlets. The longer you can stay in the current news, the better your sales will be. Even writing a post-mortem or reflections on development, can help keep interest alive after release. Consider timing of these efforts carefully.
